Certainly, the pipeline sabotage removes Russian leverage over Germany and subsequently, the EU/NATO. Popular demonstrations calling for the opening of the NS-2 pipeline in Germany threatened PM Scholz's regime. Germany had already refused to supply any more money and arms to the Ukraine. Additionally, they had begun negotiations with Russia to reopen NS-1 pipeline in the face of American and British objections. On the day of the sabotage Poland opened a new pipeline to supply gas from Norway. The Poles had made new demands on the Germans for WWII reparations and fiercely objected to the NS pipelines. Their objections were particularly pointed after the Russians had shut of the flow of pipelines crossing Poland to supply Germany and Austria. IMO, Russia had zero motivation to destroy their own NS pipelines, while the U.S., Poland and GB did and had already made threats to shut them down. Remember, Joe Xiden* said he would stop the pipelines.
