MU was still a D1 program. There were things happening in the program a D1 team does and certain aspects where it still mostly deployed a D1 mindset. When we stepped on the court it was obvious how poorly coached we were and I would argue 2014-15 was the worst coached season in program history. Expectations fell precipitously and the staff became obsessed with blaming others and making excuses rather than actually trying, and the program was destroyed. It doesn’t matter now, but that first offseason before we pulled Fuller off recruiting and then ultimately fired him there was still a shot hiring Kim would have worked. If we would have just had below average coaching that season we could have won a decent enough amount of games and Fuller/Fulford would have had something to sell.
People who blame Haith for our program downfall is one of the great tells in our fanbase for fans who don’t know what they are talking about, it’s a heightened version of someone saying Mike Anderson quit recruiting. If our AD had supported Haith and Fuller in an even somewhat normal manner the program would have been fine, quite good actually. Those who believe that have their timeline all messed up and are duped by the AD and Kim’s attempt to blame others and make excuses for their failures. To Fuller and Haith’s credit, they have demonstrated enough character to allow themselves to be scapegoats without publicly chastising MU. Not sure I would be capable of the same in their shoes.
