Talent identification and system fit is a big part of recruiting. Barry signed a lot of undervalued recruits that ended up being very good players. Of course Pinkel wrote the book on that.

If you sign a bunch of 4-star players but they end up not being a fit and being productive, then you really ain't a good recruiter.
