I just don’t think that looking at cable subscriptions is the future. Popularity that translates to TV ratings and streaming subs. That feels like the future.

But you may be right about short term thinking by ESPN in that they can milk the “old” system for another decade plus until the ACC implodes and cable subs further erode. Probably works until they decide they can make more money in showing popular brands. I don’t see why a league would add schools that aren’t that popular now.
