1. 'thru no fault of anyone'
Women get pregnant by having sexual relations. Sexual relations don't happen by accident. A conscious decision by at least of the partners is required. Most commonly both of them made that conscious decision.
2. 'But your premise suggests that if the couple is young and really isn't ready to have a child then, and in any case neither are working then and have little money to care for it properly...they should be forced to have a child they don't want and can't afford yet.'
Your 'solution' is to kill their innocent, helpless unborn child. Your 'logic' should apply to born children as well, no? If not having enough money is a valid reason to kill one's child, then they should be able to kill one or more of their children if a breadwinner loses their job, or takes a cut in pay, or inflation hits them hard in the wallet, or someone gets sick and has big medical bills, or for a myriad other reasons.
3. 'So a couple that has tried to be responsible in raising a family is to punished anyway.'
a) They weren't really being responsible if they were engaged in baby making acts and weren't willing to take care of the baby.
b) You are worried about punishing them but could care less about intentionally ripping the arms and legs off of their helpless child.
4. 'Of course there's always foster care down the road, which has never had any problems, right?'
There is a looong waiting list of parents begging to adopt a child.
