Can you clarify why there would be a difference in 10, 11 or 12 round magazines (and so on)?

Does the capacity of the magazine cause the weapon to be used different (assault vs. defense?), or is there any scientific or studied reason to believe that there is a significant difference as magazine sizes get larger?

Please explain why this message is being reported.
