"LSU plays A tough game every year." Nearly all if not all play no more than one "tough" game a year and for many it's not even that many. Missouri and Vanderbilt are good examples of that. If you skinny the OOC down to three games you could end up with the the three garbage games.
I'm just saying if what you see are "expanded playoffs" and super conferences down the road and if the teams are going to be continue to be "picked" with subjectivity by a committee you need plenty of OOC games against the other top conferences. And four OOC games gives you more of chance of doing that than three. The committee always points to and favors conferences that have impressive OOC victories.
