it's a bad comparison at this point

yeah, they play the same position but they're obviously completely different types of players.

It's like comparing Ozzie Smith to Derek Jeter at shortstop

Jeter was good defense, excellent offense for the position.

I'd say Perez is the same as a catcher

Ozzie was excellent defense, average offense for the position.

I'd say Molina is the same as a catcher.

I don't know that one is better than the other. In this day and age it feels like offense gets more attention but I'm not 100% sure it's more important at such an important defensive position.

Let's chalk it up to both being great, but for different reasons.
