He also has one of the most charismatic personalities in all of college sports. The "it" factor, as some say. Extremely impressive in interviews.
So, best season of all-time at an FBS-level school. Considered a rising star, there was major interest in him from other power conference schools.
This Gates guy is the opposite.
Gives boring, unimpressive interviews.
Hasn't accomplished anything of significance, or even coached at a school anyone's ever heard of.
His Kenpom ranking regressed from 169 to 195 this year.
1-20 vs Kenpom top 150 teams (i.e. teams that aren't complete and total garbage, like his).
