he was specifically talking about the day to day lives of people. They typically don't care about big gov't schemes unless they wind up impacting them directly in their wallet (even moreso than taxes). What you're proposing would add costs (increase gas tax to force people into EV's). You want the gov't to FORCE people into moving into a direction you want to go in. That is not a conservative take.
