His death was mentioned below, but I wanted to add something.
There is an escllent piece in The Athletic by Alec Lewis about Brian

Brian was more kind and helpful to this amateur unofficial Mizzou Baseball beat writer than I had any right to expect. He became a friend and someone I could always count on. Just a few weeks ago he responded to a text I sent him asking for some baseball camp info for the son of a co-worker and he responded almost immediately. I realize now, from the time frame spelled out in that Athletic article, that Brian was very likely in the hospital when he responded to my text.
I had been offline most of yesterday until a friend – someone who doesn’t really follow MU Baseball – texted me to say he was sorry to hear about the baseball coach. Reading the press releases and the responses on Twitter just floored me. I’m still stunned. I had known for years about his kidney issues, but did not know about the recent set-back.
I don’t know what else to say. He had finally gotten the job he wanted. Mizzou Baseball will miss him. Like I said on Twitter, he was a good caoch, a good man, and a good friend.
