There was an obvious problem the last month of the season, his team flat out quit on him. When everyone left at the end of the season that was proof that he had totally lost his team. Yes, the non-seniors that left with the exception of X were not qualify players but they were his players and en mass they all choose to start over elsewhere instead of working with him.

As soon as he had to completely rebuild his roster it was time to show him the door. That was a sign of serious rot in his program.
