is the absolute dumbest reasoning you'll ever see for not hiring a great coach at a program that couldn't otherwise hire him.
Baggage is the *only* reason we would be able to hire a great coach in the first place (especially under these circumstances), so to cite that as the reason we *shouldn't* hire such a coach is self-defeating, circular logic.
Auburn landed Bruce Pearl because of his baggage, and they've reaped the rewards. There's nothing stopping Mizzou from doing the same, except our own misguided feeling of moral superiority. Mizzou needs to get off its high horse and take a chance on a proven coach with some "baggage".
We know that Gregg Marshall can do MORE with LESS, and that's exactly what we need right now. He also has regional ties and seems like a good and logical fit for Mizzou.
And for those of you who say "I'm worried he couldn't recruit well because of the baggage"... he doesn't need top 50 recruits to win. He's proven that consistently at mid-major programs with mid-major players. So that's not an issue (and FWIW, I think he'll be able to recruit just fine).
Marshall is out there for the taking, and it's a good opportunity (maybe our ONLY opportunity) to get the program back on track. Let's give him a chance to resurrect the program.
