female, I wouldn't say it was an affirmative-action hire per se since she does seem adequately qualified:

I should also note that she seems impressive in her interviews and pressers, so far.

Time will tell, but in terms of hiring coaches she can rely on search committee recommendations for that.

The functions of an AD go way beyond that.
