One of his "jobs" was to take their customers on hunts.
Was visiting once and he asked if I knew of Hodgdon Powder (aka Hercules Powder). Sure did, at one point they owned the Bullet Hole. He said he'd taken them on a pronghorn hunt in Wyoming many years ago.
Fast forward to a few years ago when I was teaching orienteering to a group of adult Scouters. We were on a tract of land owned by Hodgdon and at one point, it housed their magazine where they stored construction explosives. Chris Hodgdon, who was my age, was an active adult Scouter and allowed us to use the property.
Fast forward another couple years and I'm at an adult recognition banquet and seated at a table with Chris. I ask him if he remembered my uncle. "YES! He took us on my very first pronghorn hunt when I was 14! I still have a photograph of that hunt on the wall in our living room."
My uncle was stationed in Alaska in the Army at the end of WWII. Instead of merely eating Army food, they supplemented their food supply with wild game. He was truly in his element.
