"According to Chris Torello of My9 News, UCF are “being pursued” by the Big 12 Conference. And UCF are believed to be “cautiously optimistic” about the offer.
Torello noted that UCF would love to jump the American Athletic Conference ship and join a bigger conference. But he speculated that they might wait given the state of the Big 12.
The Big 12 are all set to lose Oklahoma and Texas, which would likely spell the end for the conference. Torello believes that UCF would be wise to avoid that potential situation and avoid the same fate that Boise State and TCU went through when the Big East folded."

Torello doesn't know history well. TCU announced decision to Join Big East and jumped to the Big 12 when the Big 12 lost Mizzou and A&M.
The Big East didn't fold for a few more years.
TCU spurned the Big East because the Big 12 brand had a hell of a lot more equity.
