The 97-98 team was the last Missouri football team. Last roster where many of the starters were actually seen in classes on campus and known by other students. But even then, many of the players were recruited non-Missouri, non-student, players.

It's sad because the experience of being a true student-athlete helps build future leaders for society. Many Mizzou athletes from the 60s and 70s went on to have non-sport careers and their experience as student athletes helped build their character and future success. Now those spots are filled by "elite" athletes that are pro-athletics or bust.
