Odom's four years is instructive. It's not a good idea to coach at your alma mater, at least not as head coach. Since Odom ended up getting fired (as most coaches do), it soured what otherwise was a great two-decade run for Odom. He took over a program in free fall, and did a good job. You never hear any coach running down the job he did, because there is nothing to run down. If he had it to do over again, however, I'll bet he would have taken the job at Memphis and been much better off for it.
The frequent references to him being an idiot and a retard, etc., on here is a reflection on those who write such bilge.
