needless killing (but that's subjective) and horrific slaughter (again subjective) should be avoided.

But if i have to kill 1,000 of your guys to keep one of my guys from getting hurt. Your guys will die.

And if you win the war, who is going to prosecute you for "war crimes"? If you lose the war, you can be prosecuted for anything the winner chooses.

That is why war should be avoided. That is why peace and diplomacy and negotiation should be choices 1-99.

But once the war is begun, it's on. And don't ask me to feel sorry for your dead kids because i will have dead kids of my own.

If you don't want nagasaki, don't bomb pearl harbor.
