bureaucracy and leaving people alone (and actually working toward that goal, not just winning elections with that sentiment), then that level of political power over everyone else naturally attracts bad people. And I can think of maybe 3 politicians on the national level that both talked and tried to tear down the bureaucracy.
Good, honest people don't want to dominate other people and control their lives and property. It is square peg round hole.
