we coulda/shoulda won. But it was a good effort, on the most part.
1. Just 9 minutes and 2 points from Williams killed us. If she was 100% and playing like earlier in the season we would have won. For a team as thin in the frontcourt as we are that really hurt.
2. We also aren’t going to win many games with Frank going 3-12 with only 8 points. She hit a 3 point shot at the 4 minute mark, then scored 5 points in the last 34 minutes of the game. Her disappearance on the offensive end for the last 80% of the game was too much to overcome. I have this uneasy feeling that Frank is as good as she is ever going to be here, and the clear limitations in her offensive game are not going to improve the next 2 years. She is what she is, and will be more of a valuable supporting cast rather than an all SEC player, which most of us suspected when she came in so highly touted. Hope I’m wrong about that.
3. Blackwell on the other hand showed us what can happen when she mostly plays under control and understands her contribution is working the baseline and hitting the boards. She has the physicality Mizzou so desperately needs to compete and be successful at a high level in this conference. She has the huge upside that I no longer think Frank has. Looking at first team all SEC her junior year.
