And winning an arbitration case is no big deal to me, although it probably is to the Cardinals. If a player can make his case, good for him if he can win and get more money.
But Flaherty strikes me as someone who has always been a bull in a china shop. He has run his mouth before, and he seems like the type that can be an a**hole.
I have never been able to like the kid. He was supposed to be our ace last year and then he sucked and got out-produced by a 75 year old Adam Wainright, who has accomplished a ton in his career and never had a problem getting a contract done because he lets his work product and his attitude do the negotiating for him.
Flaherty seems to see himself as an ace who is being oppressed. I see him as a talented pitcher who under-produces and runs his mouth in the clubhouse. I have always gotten the vibe that he will walk away as soon as he can even if the next place only offers him a dollar more. He does not care about being in St. Louis one bit.
