That was the right matchup for him to contribute, simply from being an immovable object that doesn't get pushed around on the blocks and can alter shots or make them think he can alter shots.
Nobody was slower of foot than Monte Hardge. Half the time he didn't even make it past half court on our offensive possessions. But he probably guarded Marcus Fizer better than anyone in college simply because his mass and refusal to be pushed around on the blocks was something that Fizer couldn't deal with whereas he bullied and overpowered everyone else. I'm not saying that Wilmore is at the same point as Hardge was. But he could have done similar things with Cockburn rather than simply yield the blocks or get physically overwhelmed.
