Anytime he gets into foul trouble and sits for the rest of the first half, he ends up being largely ineffective for the rest of the game. It makes him timid and scared. I would think playing him in short spurts would be a better use of his talent and presence on the floor.
Can't really agree with you about Ayo. With the way the refs were letting him push off (all but that one offensive foul), we simply didn't have anyone who could stay in front of him or deny him the ball.
With that possession with :40 left, I can't completely agree either. Illinois did a good job keeping the ball from Dru, which left little choice for Pinson. It was clear that priority #1 was to burn the clock (which we accomplished). CM did not want to run the offense and get a good look early in the shot clock, allowing Illinois to run off a miss. It makes sense to me why the ball stuck with Pinson for so long. Also, he clearly trusts that X can create well enough to get us a decent look.
