What does “deserve” mean?

We scored more points than Arkansas thus we deserved to win the game. That team had lots of time to prepare for us and it certainly showed with their ability to move and score on our defense. They had a very good offensive game plan and likely knew Jefferson was going to be their QB all along. However, they had just as much time to prepare for our offense and still couldn’t stop our offense- even after their “all-American” safety came into the game after halftime. Heard his name called once- on a 8-yard gain. We earned that victory.
