It can compete with anything. In fact, the only way to make it look "bad" is to compare it to itself.

The dip in ratings, if there is one, is not due to the athletes being political.

But, in 2020 people have been forced to find ways to use their time differently. For a lot of people, the break from sports was nice and they haven't come back.
