I don't believe the man actually likes, or supports, white supremacy. I think in his core he's largely indifferent to it and it's not an important issue to him. I think he recognizes the fact that it is, in its literal form, an isolated and very unusual philosophy in 2020 America, and so it's not a big deal to him.

Unfortunately it seems to be a big deal to a lot of people, and he would have helped himself enormously if he had clearly and unambiguously condemned it last night.
