Nah, reason you guys are playing them as your cross rival is two factors: a)the length and depth of tha rivalry and b)you sure as **** in 2010/11 didn't think the beatings were coming for another 9 years. Saban had only been at Bama for 3-4 years (don't know if they were already working on the change of schedule in 10 in anticipation of adding 2 teams). That's why. Derek Dooley had just lost the Music City Bowl by 3 (I was at that game in full Mizzou gear) and things were looing up. All the other stuff you mentioned just fueled the overconfidence with which Tennessee made that decision. Heck, was the USC series still going at that time?
