people are willing to have their name put to a declaration...unlike the 'anonymous sources'...since they're anonymous how can those claims be proven?

You can also state pretty definitively if something is entirely out of character for someone...there are many things I could easily go on record as my wife not once in her life saying, even though I've not been around her every second.
