to promote understanding of math. Ask any math teacher and they will tell you the same. Parents and elementary teachers do not like it because it is not about the algorithms that they learned as children. It is designed to create and understanding of numbers not just a bunch of processes to memorize.

Too many teachers at the elementary level do not like or understand math. Their teaching tends to be very superficial and often times flat out wrong. They fight common core because it is not in their comfort zone.

Please explain why this message is being reported.
