What makes no sense to the adults in the room is the idea that we "return to normal" fegettaboutit. It is no thing, rather than addressing it straight forward.

There is also this preposterous idea that oh it is just old people. They're soon to die anyway, like in, ya know, the next 15 years or so.

Masks work. Distancing works. Keeping out of gatherings works. And yet . . . the toddlers stamp their feet and refuse and thus we go on and on and on with no real end in sight. Why would one think that is a good idea?
