in their face, boom, protestor loses. The whole problem starts in the beginning, removing bullies from the police force. Until the unions suck it up and allow the bullies to be asked to find other jobs, problems will occur. Protesting in the middle of the street causing citizens in cars to stop is not good. All it takes is one citizen to fear for their safety and hit the gas. Stay out of the streets, don't throw things at the officers, and don't loot, it is that simple; then it goes back to the police to Serve and Protect instead of Bully and Beat.
