overblown. No, Haith didn't leave a perfect situation but almost no departing coaches do. Even in the situation where Haith inherited a senior-laden squad from Mike Anderson, the next couple of years was set up to be terrible because he had no recruits signed and was losing 6 players.
If you look at what Haith left, it could have been a NCAA tourney team if the players were retained and developed. Hell, J3 played in a Final Four. Wes Clark averaged 15 PPG on a NCAA tourney team. Jakeenan Gant averaged 20 points and 8 rebounds at a mid-major. And the list goes on. If he hadn't run off / lost so many players, he could have easily won a lot of games eventually. But he sucked as a coach, recruiter, player evaluator, and player retainer.
