spending burden is lessened. Which, in theory, is the idea with medicare for all or a single payer healthcare system.

The debt cannot be repudiated and it won't. The majority of the debt is held overseas, those who own our debt are not going to simply say "okay" if we don't pay it back. The debt service payments are probably nice, though.
