No other coach ever did that at App. State.
He won two road games against P5 teams this year.
And the way he talks about turnovers and special teams being the heart of the program, tells me that he "gets it". Pinkel said that too and proved he meant it. Bill Snyder and Frank Beamer lived off of that mantra.
Those aren't just words that coaches say. I never heard Larry Smith or Odom or Martz or Linehan or any other of my coaches say turnovers and special teams were the hearts of their program. They barely commented on those at all.
Only Pinkel.
And now Drinkowitz.
And while I don't remember him saying it, it seems Dick Vermeil obviously believed that too. Not only did he prove it with the Rams and Chiefs, but there was an entire Hollywood movie about a player on his special teams unit.
