Firing a coach when the team is improving sends a negative message to other coaches. This year had high expectations that won't even come close to being met. I don't think anybody is defending Odom at this point.
How exactly was the Kumar investigation "blundered"? Self-reporting a violation is not "blundering an investigation". Nearly everyone is on Mizzou's side in this case that the sanctions were too harsh.
While Earleywine's dismissal was ugly, there were many reasons for the change. The investigation you're referring to was launched by Rhodes, not Sterk. Several players had reported verbal abuse and many left the program after the 2016 season.
I don't disagree with the comments about his feuds. I think he shouldn't make those types of statements, but it's not enough to lose his job over, IMO.
