If we don’t fire him this year, what’s the expectation for next year? Looking at the schedule, it’s arguably more difficult than this year. @BYU has to be considered a tougher test than at Wyoming and we all know how that turned out. Arky and @MSU is still a gift compared to who else in the west we could be playing but MSU is on the road. @Tenn, @USCe, @Florida, with a home game against Georgia, doesn’t look good for wins. If we don’t pick off one of those road games, we’re looking at 6-6 at best.
So what is the realistic prospect that we win enough games to make keeping Barry another year worth it? If the argument is program stability, what will two straight disappointing seasons do to that? Now, we could surprise everyone and have an 8 or 9 win season next year, but thats the gamble we’d be making.
I guess the question is, if we don’t fire him at seasons end, what’s the likelihood we’ll be in the exact same spot next year, if not worse. How much confidence do people have that next year will be significantly better?
