What Pinkel took over:
----------------------
15 losing seasons in 17 years
0 titles of any sort in 32 years
no television exposure
no following
no fanbase
zero national recognition
no all-americans
almost no NFL players
previous 4 coaches all fired
no pipelines in KC or STL
no cornerbacks on scholarship
poor facilities
few resources
11 straight losses to Big 12 North Teams
Kansas, Iowa State, Kansas State, Nebraska, Colorado, Arkansas, Iowa and Illinois were all better programs. In most cases, far better programs.
By the time Pinkel retired, we were better than all those programs.
We were a year removed from back-to-back SEC East Division Championships.
STL and KC were rock solid Mizzou cities.
Mizzou became a national name.
Mizzou got invited to join the best conference in football.
Mizzou was getting Heisman finalists.
Mizzou was a regular on All-American lists and a fixture in All-Conference honors.
Mizzou was putting players in the NFL.
Getting players drafted 1st round consistently.
We were top 10 in the entire nation in wins over a decade period.
We won 5 division titles in the previous 9 years when he retired.
He left behind an NFL quarterback to the next coach.
He left behind a top 5 defense and Mizzou D-Line U. The best pass rushing program in the entire nation.

Any comparison of Pinkel's Mizzou to Odom's Mizzou is by dishonest hacks or galactically stupid know-nothings.
If you want to compare Pinkel to like situations, he could be compared to Art Briles' job at Baylor. or Bill Snyrder's job at Kansas State. Lovie Smith at Illinois.
Three coaches that took over similarly dead programs with a long sustained recent past of big losing, and with almost no resources to help them ignite their rebuild efforts.
If you want to compare Odom properly to a similar situation, he could be compared to Bo Pelini at Nebraska. Nebraska also went 5-7, 1-7 in conference the year before Pelini took over (just like Mizzou's 2015 team).
Pelini went 38-16 overall, 22-10 in conference, 3 division titles and 2 bowl victories in his first 4 years.
How does that compare to Odom?
