excavated Jericho and no destruction layers were found.

The conquering of the Midianites never happened. They had not been in that region for four centuries. It was a polemical story, written by an Aaronid, against the connection between Moses and Midian (remember his wife was a Midianite).

The Exodus as a story of the entire people of Israel leaving Egypt never happened. The only evidence is that the Levite class did as they are the only ones with Egyptian names (Moses, Hophni, Hur, two men named Phinehas, Merari, Mushi, Pashhur).

It was calculated that if 2 million Israelitrs left Egypt, marching eight wide, by the time they reached Mt. Sinai, half would still be in Egypt.

The rest of Israel rose up out of the population of existing Canaanites.
