has aspects that are good moral life guidance and some that are reprehensible. You have folks that pick and choose which parts to emphasize and are fringe outliers that subvert the greater message. But, point taken as to your choice to mock that particular religion.
No, past actions don't exempt today's choices, but they might help to explain them. And while not a formalized crusade, more modern geo-political actions in that region of the world have led to thousands of deaths. We've certainly become more nuanced about the killings, but whether it's "progress" is anyone's guess.
Take the island where the missionary was killed. Those folks appear to be perfectly happy without him spreading the Word to them. But for his interference, would they be savages? Or would they just go about their lives content with the structure that they know?
