You are correct.
But most struggle to ever do anything other than play a small handful of games.
In 2016, for example, only six guys failed to play in the NBA. But more than half the players drafted in the second round “made a roster” for a few weeks.
So yeah, to be technically accurate, those guys made an NBA team. Barely.
Doesn’t change the point, though. NBA teams don’t look at second rounders as valuable picks that can’t be wasted on a player with an injury concern. Any real impact from a player drafted that late is a bonus, not the expectation.
