I posted this on another site...reading Barr’s June 2018 opinion on Mueller and the investigation.
He does NOT like Mueller's logic --- or illogic more accurately.
Barr refers to Mueller’s desires to change the interpretation of Obstruction laws as “veering into novel, unsettled or contested areas of the law, that indulges the fancies of overzealous prosecutors.”
WOW. Strong words against Mueller.
His basic premise is that to charge for obstruction, a real crime must be committed. I.E. Destroying evidence, tampering with witness testimony… inherently bad acts, where the only motive was to prevent information from being shared.
Barr goes on to say that for example, Mueller can NOT use Comey’s firing for Obstruction, because it is a perfectly lawful, and constitutional power granted to the President. He can not be charged with exercising legal rights.
He even says Mueller also has no right to conclude that a President of the United States is not allowed to influence opinions with public statements, as the US Constitution places absolutely no limits on the President’s Supervisory Authority. Further, the President inherently has no “conflict of interest” on any matter, since an application of such an absurd limit, would impermissibly “disempower” the President from supervising cases that he has full constitutional power to supervise.
Essentially, charging the President with Obstruction, for exercising his constitutional powers, renders the executive branch totally and 100% powerless and meaningless.

Barr is no doubt a true white hat. A law abiding man.
he is no fan of an “overzealous prosecutor” that veers into totally gray areas of law to indulge his own fancies and destroy the the entire nature of the Executive Branch.
