I do like Scates, but have no confidence in anyone else. I think throwing Daniel and Scates against UCLA would be almost like conceding the game.
But the better question is, can either Norman or Gasper start and be effective for long 3 days in a row. So giving them both a days rest on Friday does make some sense. It would be nice if one or both didn’t have to go a full 7 innings on Thursday, then I could see them both taking 3 innings or so against UCLA. I’m certain UCLA will throw Garcia against OU, so we should get a break in that game. Agree we need to develop and get confidence in a #3 pitcher.
