I'm in texas. Had a choice between moving back to Missouri, or texas after shoveling 84 inches of snow in Boston one winter.
I choose texas. No state income tax, housing(generally) is cheaper, winter's about a week unless you go to the panhandle.
I've yet to scrape sunshine from windshield, hear it's dangerous road conditions, or shovel snow.
I will admit we have a big wild hog problem, got to watch for them on backroads morning, dusk. they can be hard on yards, along with armadillos.
Good luck on finding the right spot.
