I think its reasonable for African Americans to request compensation for past grievances. I think its a very biblical thing to do and generally honorable to correct past atrocities.
Have you read the autobiography of Malcolm X by Alex Haley? It will shake you to your bone.
He had 8 siblings, his father was murdered by clansmen by being tied to train tracks. He had the foresight to take a life insurance policy out on his life in case he was murdered to take care of his large family. The insurance company said they believed it was a suicide, with a straight face, and took it to court. The court agreed that it was a suicide and denied the entire sum of money to the family. Social service workers started arriving at the house to question his mother on how she can take care of all these kids alone, and one by one took them to different orphanages and ended up separating the entire family. His mother went insane and died in an mental ward.
This is what America did to one man's family, the fire of it produced Malcolm X. This is the African American experience in this country, I think it is reasonable to give some kind of compensation. Affirmative Action is a cheap compensation.
