We won the national duals tournament that year. A lot of people argue that is a better gauge of the best "team" in the nation and should be the NCAA NC tournament.
We are an incredible dual team which basically means top to bottom more of our wrestlers will beat the other teams. The NCAA's don't reward that as much as the reward having a few truly dominate wrestlers that will score bonus points and not just win. Basically wrestlers that win by fall.
Not sure if that makes sense or not but a prime example of that is Jayden Cox. He won almost every match he ever wrestled for MU (lost maybe 3-5) but he would rarely win by fall so we wouldn't get a ton of bonus points.
