illegal immigration.

Asylum seekers will still be allowed.
A large majority dont cross the border.
Those that do typically cross at ports of entry.

Of those that dont fit the above criteria, border patrol apprehends over 81% (according to DHS data).

Now, add in the fact that it is very easy to get over/under/through a fence/wall/etc, this "wall" is a very bad idea.

To piggyback off of Fiji's point, there arent reasonably intelligent people who think its worth the cost.
