My answer is this is an issue-by-issue situation. But yeah, given that support for marriage equality in the 90s was at like 20% it wouldn't surprise me if anyone who has a progressive set of values has a quote that would seem regressive in hindsight. Same with marijuana legislation. Those are two issues on which the needle has moved drastically and any older politician can be caught in a classic Spanky GOTCHA POST
