I have been threatened by eminent domain several times and was only able to negotiate terms. In one case, I was opposed to the project and tried to stop it. It was a high voltage power transmission line designed to transfer energy from a Nebraska nuclear power plant to Kansas City. The proposed right-of-way crossed two of my farms. The engineering firm hired by KCPL began negotiations with threats and intimidation. The experience left a bad taste in my mouth regarding the power.
