at a higher rate. Weight lifting is again critical to building fast twitch muscle. Sprints in high intensity interval training as well. Exercises that focus on explosive power.
If you happen to be born with more slow twitch than fast twitch muscle outside the norm, you will have a slower metabolism. But again, this is where resistance training to build muscle comes in to play.
I have no evidence other than being weak as fvck.. suspect I had more slow twitch. Even in a large t-shirt my arms were floating in my sleeves while my gut was quite visible. When I started lifting about 4 years ago at 38 years old, I struggled to bench 90lbs. I am at 275lbs last time I tried for 3 reps. My current goal is to hit 225lbs for 20 reps (in range of some NFL combine numbers for someone my height). A large t-shirt now is extremely constricting on my arms.
